FUE Hair Transplant

The field of hair restoration has seen tremendous advancements, but patients should choose their treatment carefully.

Compared to other surgical methods, robotic FUE hair transplantation is less invasive and offers more predictable, natural-looking results.

Why does Dr. Joseph Galitzin exclusively use FUE hair transplants to help his Atlanta, GA, patients?

Greater Precision & a Shorter Recovery

Dr. Galitzin uses the ARTAS® system, a robotic transplant unit, to perform follicular unit extraction, or FUE. Dr. Galitzin and his staff have undergone training and certification to offer this innovative hair transplant technology to patients. Benefits over other techniques, such as strip harvesting (also known as follicular unit transplant or FUT), include:

Increased Accuracy

The FUE robotic system uses an intelligent algorithm to carefully choose only the best hairs to harvest from the scalp. This approach also involves a far lower risk of human error, which is much more likely to affect FUE when manual extraction techniques are used.

Faster Treatment Time

More precise harvesting and hair transplant techniques at our Atlanta office mean the entire procedure is much more efficient. This allows Dr. Galitzin to achieve comparable–if not better–results in a much shorter amount of time.

Less Discomfort during the Procedure

Unlike traditional hair transplant methods, which require the removal of a strip of the scalp, FUE is minimally invasive. We apply a local anesthetic before precisely extracting the hair follicles in order to keep patients comfortable throughout their hair transplant procedure.

Minimal Recovery Time

Most patients can expect to return to work just one or two days following FUE hair transplantation. Since FUT is a lengthier, more invasive hair transplant procedure, it generally requires a much longer recovery period.

No Linear Scar, Stitches, or Staples

This type of hair transplantation only requires small groupings, or follicular units, of hair. The small circular incisions may result in tiny, white scars, but these can easily be concealed even with short hair.

Lowered Risk of Complications

The minimally invasive nature of this hair transplant technique naturally lowers the risk of complications, such as numbness, prolonged discomfort or bleeding, infection, and poor outcomes.

Why We Choose ARTAS

ARTAS System

The ARTAS system by Restoration Robotics, Inc. is the only robotic hair transplantation technology approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for safe, effective hair loss treatment. Using this robotic technology allows Dr. Galitzin to reduce the risk of human error, guesswork, and fatigue associated with manual transplantation methods, resulting in more accurate, consistent, and efficient outcomes

ARTAS is also equipped with Hair Studio® technology to simulate 3-D before and after images. During your hair restoration consultation, Dr. Galitzin can design a treatment plan and demonstrate your potential results. These images can help you decide whether FUE treatment with robotic technology can help you meet your desired expectations.

The Only FDA-Approved System of Its Kind

"The ARTAS system by Restoration Robotics, Inc. is the only robotic hair transplant technology approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration for safe, effective hair loss treatment."

What Exactly Is FUE?

FUE is an alternative to traditional techniques such as follicular unit transplantation (FUT). During the process, a physician-assisted robotic punch individually extracts groups of hair follicles from the back of the scalp. This allows the patient to avoid the surgical removal of a strip of hair.

Rather than manually transplanting your hair, Dr. Galitzin can use the ARTAS system to:

  • Precisely target the best hairs for harvesting
  • Complete a greater number of grafts per session

Hair Transplant with FUE Requires Good Health and Realistic Expectations

Hair restoration with our robotic system can be used to address hair loss due to various causes, including genetics, fluctuating hormones (such as menopause), certain health conditions, and more.

Ideal candidates for FUE hair transplantation at our Atlanta practice are in good general health and have realistic expectations for their hair transplantation treatment. They should also have exhausted more conservative methods of hair restoration, including lifestyle changes (such as stress management) and discontinuing medications that contribute to hair loss.

Dr. Galitzin will examine your scalp, patterns of hair growth, and severity of hair loss during an examination. He will also discuss your concerns and goals to learn more about whether the treatment is right for your needs.

Easier Treatment, Better Outcome

"With FUE hair transplant, you can achieve fuller hair, a restored hairline, and a rejuvenated appearance with less discomfort and a reduced recovery time."

Understanding How Robotic Hair Transplant Works

Our state-of-the-art robotic technology allows us to graft more hair while minimizing discomfort and recovery time.

What to Expect during Hair Transplantation

Although we will use local anesthesia during your hair restoration procedure to ensure your comfort, you will remain fully awake. Most patients describe FUE hair restoration as a virtually pain-free experience.

Dr. Galitzin and his highly trained staff at our Atlanta practice will upload the proposed hairline design to the software system. Using intelligent algorithms, the program will identify the best hairs for transplantation and accurately extract the follicular units without damaging the surrounding, healthy hair. Under the control of Dr. Galitzin, the system will then transplant the hair into thinning areas. The result is an evenly distributed transplant site that looks completely natural.

The Recovery Process

Because this hair transplant procedure is minimally invasive and does not require surgery, stitches, or staples, you can enjoy a dramatically reduced recovery time. Most patients are able to return to work within one or two days following the procedure.

Versatile Styling and Lasting Results

Unlike strip harvesting, there is no linear scar remaining after FUE. This allows you to cut and style your hair however you choose once you are fully healed. Dr. Galitzin will provide instructions on how to care for your hair in the months following hair transplant treatment.

Most patients see noticeable, significant hair growth within six months. As your hair continues to grow, you will see optimal results. Transplanted hair using follicular unit extraction is not susceptible to the same conditions that likely caused your initial hair loss, so the results are permanent. However, if you continue to lose more non-transplanted hair, touch-up hair restoration procedures at our Atlanta office can address these areas.
