A Hair Transplant Can Help You Achieve Life-Changing Results
Dr. Joseph Galitzin exclusively offers follicular unit extraction (FUE) to restore patients’ thin and balding areas. This advanced technique is minimally invasive, which means that patients can resume their normal activities just a day or two after the procedure. Additionally, by combining FUE with the ARTAS® Robotic System, our patients can enjoy more comfortable treatment, negligible scarring, and dramatic, natural-looking effects*. Our team has helped countless patients in and around Peachtree City, GA, achieve life-changing hair transplant results in as little as six months with FUE.
Robotic FUE is widely recognized for providing the most natural-looking results, both in the donor and treatment areas. Note: Individual results may vary.
Tips for Experiencing the Best Outcome
Your outcome will depend on how quickly you heal and the extent of your procedure, but most patients are able to achieve visible results after approximately six months.
The First Month
Although FUE is a minimally invasive approach compared to follicular unit transplantation (FUT), it is important to be careful during your recovery to lower the risk of complications. After the procedure, you will have hundreds of tiny incisions on your scalp. These may cause itchiness and mild discomfort, which can typically be managed with over-the-counter anti-inflammatories. It is important that you do not scratch your scalp, as this can affect the healing process and displace your transplanted hair.
Our office is equipped with ARTAS Hair Studio software, which allows you to preview your predicted results and make modifications to meet your goals.
Approximately two days after treatment, you should be able to resume washing your hair. While you should lather your hair normally, avoid scratching or rubbing the scalp directly. After your shower, pat your hair dry rather than rubbing it vigorously with a towel. During the first two weeks of your recovery, you should also avoid:
- Swimming pools and hot tubs
- Intense physical exercise or strenuous activity
- Swimming in the ocean
- Direct sunlight on your scalp
- Hair dye and hair products
- Getting a haircut
- Certain medications such as aspirin and blood thinners, as these can cause excessive bleeding
To ensure the best results, you should also maintain a healthy diet and avoid habits such as smoking or drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. Smoking can interfere with healing and also put you at risk for medical conditions that can aggravate hair loss.
Three Months
In the first few months, it is normal for your transplanted hair to shed. This is a natural process and new hair will grow in its place. Your newly transplanted hair, like the rest of your hair, grows steadily over time. After a few months, you will begin to see new hair growth throughout the treated areas on the scalp. It is normal for the hair to be dispersed unevenly, but it should become more consistent and dense over time*.
Six Months
Around six months, you should start to notice significant growth as the hair continues to fill in the treatment area. At this point, your hair should be about two inches long, and you can begin styling it however you like. As more time passes, the quality, thickness, and coverage of your hair should also improve. Thanks to the minimal scarring resulting from FUE, you can style your hair short without worrying about visible strip scars.
Maintaining Your Results
Most patients are able to achieve their desired results with only one FUE treatment. However, depending on your goals, you may be a good candidate for a second hair transplant or touch-ups. Dr. Galitzin will discuss your options with you during your follow-up appointments. You will be able to take care of your newly transplanted hair as you would your natural hair. The results are permanent, as grafted hair is not subject to the same conditions that caused your initial hair loss.
